This is an excerpt of my Free Weight Loss Plan, the Don’t Go Broke Weight Loss Plan.
You are ready to lose weight and you have set your weight loss goals. Now What?
Now it is time to lose weight. However, in order to do that, you must change the way you think and what you think about weight loss.
The way you think currently has led to unsuccessful weight loss or temporary weight loss. Now, you will learn how to change your thinking so that you will lose weight permanently.
Think About Small Changes
When deciding to lose weight, most of you attempt to change your lives completely. You decide to only eat grilled chicken and broccoli. You promise to work-out for two hours every day.
Those strategies will lead to weight loss, but how long can you maintain them. After two days of living like you are training for the Olympics, you will revert to your old habits.
Huge changes in lifestyle will lead to quick results, but these results are rarely permanent. A better technique is to slowly incorporate small changes into your lifestyle.
The lifestyle you are currently leading did not happen overnight. It took many years to get to your current mindset. Habits, good or bad, are difficult to eliminate, change, or add.
It will be much easier for you to adopt a few small changes into your current lifestyle. You will not feel as if your life is being completely overhauled, just adjusted.
In future posts, you will be provided with small behavior and lifestyle changes for you to choose from. You will need to choose a few small changes to incorporate into your life.
Adopting these small lifestyle changes will lead to weight loss. Your weight loss will be slow, steady, and permanent.
You will have to be patient with your self and your weight loss. Every journey has multiple steps. You will focus on the individual steps and eventually you will achieve your goals.
Think Long-term
When starting a weight loss program, most of you have focused on the short-term. Even though it took you years to gain the extra weight, you want the weight gone in days.
That is the reason that weight loss program advertisers tempt you with huge short-term weight loss. These weight loss “programs” tell you that you can lose twenty, thirty, or even forty pounds in a month.
If you are focused on quick short-term weight loss, you will easily fall victim to those unhealthy “programs”. Then after the “program” fails, you are right back where you were in the beginning or worse.
You have to have a long-term view of weight loss. Think about weight loss in terms of how much you will weigh in one or two years not one or two months. Time goes by very quickly. Think about your life two years ago. Seems like yesterday, right?
When you get inpatient with yourself or your weight loss, close your eyes and visualize your future. Think about how much better your life will be in one year if you stay the course. Imagine how much healthier and happier you will be.
It would be great if we could lose weight quickly and keep that quick weight loss off forever. Unfortunately, that is not how weight loss works.
